Lighten Up

I've recieved several requests recently that I "lighten up" and stop writing about "such heavy theological stuff" etc., etc. So in an effort to "lighten" the "mood," consider this the gratuitous... uh... "mood-lightening" post for the month. Or something. Okay - that said, here are some things to brighten your day:

1.) If you're jonesin' for some generally pointless, but entertaining, comedic blog relief, visit my ol' pal Diddy.9000 - from now on, I'll refer all you chuckle-seekers to his well-written accounts of the ongoing war against spider crickets. Also of light-hearted interest, he apparently thinks Adam Sandler is a better actor than Robert DeNiro. I take back the "ol' buddy" part. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I know this guy at all. Do make sure you stop by and tell him what you think about that DeNiro biz though.

2.) Just as a promised, I did teach baby Caleb how to read (see photo). Unfortunately, he has a hard time holding Grudem's Systematic Theology up with his lil' baby arms, so after a couple paragraphs, he gets tired and takes a snooze. I guess we'd better start strength training next to build up those wee arms... or maybe I should just teach him how to read on his stomach.

3.) For my birthday, my bro sent me a copy of Taming A Liger: Unexpected Spiritual Lessons From Napoleon Dynamite. Pretty flippin' hilarious. You know I'm training to be a cage-theologian. Gosh.

4.) I'm sure you will be amused to know that Sam, the world's ugliest dog, died earlier this month. Okay, so that's not so light-hearted and funny... but what IS funny is that I know a guy named Sam. He's named just like the dog. The world's ugliest dog. Who... just... um... died. Ha. hmmm... (*sigh*)

5.) Did I mention that baby? Babies always make people laugh.

Whew! Now that we have this "light" and "funny" stuff outta the way, I can get back to some real bloggin'. Next topic - The Wages of Sin is Death... DEATH... DEAAAATH.

Thanks for the plug . . . and ol' Bobby DeNiro says hello. He has a gun to my head. AND I NEVER SAID THAT!!! I SAID THEY'RE EQUALS!!!

. . . oh, and I can't wait for the "death, dying, and killing people" series. This should be almost as uplifting as Sam's old blogs.

I love the turn to lighter things here, but I have instructed my less than pure friends to come to your blog for a good ole fashion dose of jebus, (i did that in purpose) So get back to work.
And Diddy can't help that he has been elightened enough to know that DeNiro is cool but just can't hold a candle to Sandler or Keeeeeeano Reeves, who in everyrole could play air guitar and make it work. Why when he played checkers with death, I almost cried.

Thanks for visiting my site! Come by any time. Your son is absolutely adorable! But I'm wondering if it was the weight of the book that caused him to put it down and nap or if he just found the material to be a tad bit boring. Ha ha!

I tried to go back and read some of your earlier posts and found them quite interesting. I will try to read more when I have more time and will be back to keep up on new post coming soon. Looking forward to it.

Oh my Goodness!! Please forgive me!!! I went back and looked at pic and re-read the title to the book. Theology (at least to me) is never boring. At a quick glance I was thinking it was some hard backed Physics text book of some sort. I am mortified that I made such an error! PLease forgive me. It's early and I'm not a morning person. Think I need another cup of coffee. Yes, it must have been the weight of the book. :)

It appears that her dog is more interested in Systematic Theology than your son.

I am getting Grudem's book for Christmas. Why do I think that no one will want to see a picture of me reading it?

Van, thanks for visiting. I have to say that your late-night theologian is a tad, a tad, mind you, cuter than my little girl. You better take that as a compliment, cause those are rare words from my mouth.
:)

Marc, when are you going to post that pic?

...of course I meant HEAVY reading.... couldn't stand to see a type-o in my comment.
Just call me persnickety.
p.s. Nice blog.

For some reason, I'm thinking of "itching ears". ;-)

Anyway, I recently found out, "A man's heart devises his way, but the LORD directs our steps."

Keep up the good work!

Your words are too important to be spoken so infrequently of late.

So write, you slacker:-)
